Being a listener is sometimes difficult, but can also be very rewarding.
New volunteers are always welcome at Leicester Samaritans as the number of callers grows and the means of communicating with them expands to include emailing and texting.
New volunteers are always welcome at Leicester Samaritans as the number of callers grows and the means of communicating with them expands to include emailing and texting.
As well as needing 'listening volunteers' who will be able to support our callers we also need 'support volunteers' to assist with our fundraising efforts and help us to raise our profile.
Listening volunteers receive excellent training to enable them to develop their existing skills as well as learn some useful new ones.
Support volunteers are also essential to our service because they provide much needed help in raising funds, promoting the work of Samaritans and carrying out administrative tasks.
All skills are welcome and the amount of time you contribute as a non-listening volunteer is as little or as much as you want to give.
Whichever type of volunteer you become you will:
- be supporting those who need Samaritans
- be doing something worthwhile
- make new friends.
If you wish to volunteer for Leicester Samaritans either as a listening or support volunteer, download and complete the three forms listed below and return them to Sue Marriott, Branch Secretary, Leicester Samaritans, Ia Elmfield Avenue, Leicester LE2 1RB.
We'll then get in touch to arrange an initial interview.
