We’d like your help please.

When Leicester Samaritans started in 1964, we received 900 calls in the first twelve months.
Last year, the figure was 41,000 calls.
Over 19,000 were from people in distress or despair. 2,700 of those calls were from people who felt suicidal. Over 700 were from callers who already had a plan to take their own life.
In 131 cases, that attempt was already under way at the time of the call.
Around 150 Leicester Samaritans volunteers ensure there is always someone to talk to 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
There are only 12 branches out of a network of over 200 across the UK that are open 24/7 and we’re one of them. In fact, we have never been closed since we first opened almost 50 years ago.
Most of the calls we receive are from people across Leicestershire and Rutland.
The odds are that you know someone – family, friend, neighbour or work colleague – who has called us.
The odds are that you know someone – family, friend, neighbour or work colleague – who has called us.
We’d like you to help guarantee that we can be there for them, whenever they need us.
We’d like you to join Club24:7.

Here’s what we’re looking for...
Despite using a team of volunteers it still costs us, on average, around £2.00 to answer each call that comes in to Leicester Samaritans. That’s £73,000 a year, or £200 a day.
We’re looking for individuals, businesses and organisations across Leicestershire and Rutland to help us to raise those much-needed funds and to keep Leicester Samaritans open 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
Simply decide how many calls you would like to sponsor, multiply that figure by £2, send us a cheque for that amount (made payable to Leicester Samaritans) and we’ll send you a receipt.
If you would like to sponsor our service for a full day or more, the cost is £200 per day.
If you require an invoice before payment, just let us know how much you wish to donate and we’ll send you a pro forma invoice.
What you’ll get in return.
We’ll acknowledge your support on our website (please let us know if you wish your donation to be anonymous).
If your donation is over £50 and you would like to dedicate it to someone or in memory of somebody, or if you want your donation to cover our work on a specific date, we’ll make sure those details are also included.
We’ll also keep you updated on our activities throughout the year, so you can see how your donation is helping.
You’ll also have the satisfaction of knowing that your donation is enabling us to provide help and comfort to thousands of people across the county each year.
Let’s get started!
If you want to send in a cheque, please download the Club24:7 donation form here, complete it and send it in with your donation.
If you would like a pro forma invoice before paying, simply go to the Contact Form on this web site, select ‘Sponsorship’ from the drop-down menu and provide us with your details, including the name and address of your organisation and the amount of the donation.
Once you have received our invoice, simply complete the form that will be enclosed with it and send it back to us with your cheque.
Anything else we can help with?
If you would like a member of our branch to talk to your organisation or business about the work that we do, or if you would like to work more closely with us and raise funds for us as part of a longer-term commitment, then please get in touch using our Contact Form.
